Facial Toner Recipe: Simply Love Your Skin

Let’s start simply loving our skin with natural anti-aging ingredients.

This recipe is so incredibly quick and simple to make with only 2 ingredients, plus your essential oils of choice.

Why use a toner?
  • Toning your skin helps remove excess oils and dead skin cells that may have been left behind after washing.
  • Toning helps to balance your skin’s PH level.
  • Toning also helps to close the pores and allow your moisturizer to soak into the skin more efficiently.

I NEVER used to use toners, but as my skin ages, I found out that I love using a toner to rid of the dry and tired looking skin. My skin always looks more fresh and evenly toned for the day. Taking care of our skin by cutting out harsh chemical ingredients and using natural plant-based ingredients can also help slow the anti-aging process.

Facial Cleansing Pads Recipe: Travel With Ease and Less Breakouts

My family is always on the go!

Whether it is moving across the country or going for a drive that turns into sleeping in the back of the jeep for a prolonged adventure or just to wake up on the beach, it happens! And I cannot get enough of it!

There are things that I do , however, so that my face and body do not suffer these spontaneous overnights. One of these protocols is bringing my homemade facial cleansing pads with me on any potential adventure breakaway. They are super simple to make and save me the post-adventure breakout.

They can also be used at home, when you’re just too tired to wash your face.

Ingredients (makes 4oz jar):

  • 1 Tbs Witch Hazel: This is a great facial cleanser, that helps tone the skin and has antibacterial properties.
  • Distilled Water
  • 5 Drops of Frankincense essential oil: MUST HAVE for fine lines and wrinkles.
  • 5 Drops of Tea Tree essential oil: It’s antibacterial and has disinfectant properties. This makes it a great cleansing essential oil and must have if you are prone to acne.
  • 5 Drops of Lavender essential oil: Calms and nourishes the skin.
  • Cotton Rounds/Pads
  • Container with a tight-fitting lid

Simple and Natural Recipes: Freshen Air, Carpet, Shoes, and More

If you live in a place where you wear wool socks all winter long, like Southwest Michigan or anywhere in the north, this one is for you.

If you work out and have the case of stinky foot or gym bag, this is also for you.

If you have stinky garbage containers, laundry hampers, basements, carpets, cars, or puppies, this is for you.

Purification essential oil is the ultimate weapon against bad odors. It is a blend of Citronella, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Tea Tree, Lavendin, and Myrtle essential oils.

Most times I just add a drop or two or Purification to a cotton ball and throw it in the specific location, like in the garbage bin or gym bag.

If you guys know us well, you know we have a 120lb dog named Beast that sleeps with us every night. When he gets a little stinky, I’ll rub some into my palms and down the side of his neck so he smells fresh. When using essential oils on dogs, I have to recommend diluting with a carrier oil. This is like instant de-stink for him and a total lifesaver if we don’t have time to give him a bath or a swim.

I’m sharing these tips with you today because it’s the middle of winter and I personally have a lot to deodorize and clean now that the holidays are over.

I Have a Choice. Cancer Sucks. My Goals for 2018.

Disclaimer: I’m not perfect.

I may have started my day today with coffee and a run, then on to take a bath. But I also decided it was a good idea to bring a Bell’s Two Hearted Ale with me for my Lavender Soak. Why not?! It’s New Year’s Eve! We only have one life to live, and it can be pretty darn short.

It’s all about finding balance, sharing with others, feeling good about your health, and doing good things for your family.

Because of my past, I have this deep connection or feeling that with health eventually comes disease, cancer, grief, and loss.

I know that this is no way to think or live, but deep down the feeling has always been there. This is embarrassingly the most pessimistic side of my extremely optimistic mindset. I’m totally ashamed to admit it is there, but that does not change the fact that it is a part of me; a part of me that I am working to heal.

We all have our experiences to cope with, and this is mine. The way I cope with this feeling today is to actively
realize, I HAVE A CHOICE.

I have a choice in more than just my diet and how I exercise (but I’ve come to realize these are the big ones). I also have a choice in lifestyle and my toxic exposure.

CANCER SUCKS!

Many researchers now believe that only 5-10% of all cancer cases are from gene defects. What about the other 90-95%?!

My search for health and wellness solutions begins here… with a choice.

Can I really control my wellness and possibly help my body’s defenses against disease through diet, exercise, lifestyle choices, and limiting toxic exposure? Continue reading “I Have a Choice. Cancer Sucks. My Goals for 2018.”

Soaps and Body Wash: Infused with Essential Oils

Have you ever wondered why your soaps are bright blue or purple?

It’s NOT for the power of clean or because lavender is purple.

It’s toxic, synthetic color to make it look more appealing to the consumer all while knowingly poisoning us.

Big companies choose 💰 over health every time.

Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair: Simple and Chemical Free

This one is for all my brunette babes….

Please do yourself a favor and trash the conventional dry shampoos in your bathroom cupboards. They are full of toxic chemical ingredients, like butane, propane, and synthetic fragrances. Stop giving yourself chemical headaches and exposing your loved ones to toxic chemicals by spraying them in your home and hair. This recipe is so simple, just give it a try.

Ingredients:

  • Equal parts Cocoa Powder (Blondies can leave this ingredient out) and
  • Arrowroot Powder (or Corn Starch)
  • drops of your favorite essential oils

*I change it up, but one of my favorite blends for this recipe is Lavender, Tea Tree, and Lemongrass.

Directions:

  1. I use a 2 ounce glass jar.
  2. Add the ingredients.
  3. Shake it up or stir.
  4. To apply, I use an extra oiling brush I found in the kitchen, but another great way is using a cosmetic blush brush.
  5. Enjoy fresh looking and smelling hair without chemical consequences!

Again, thank you for letting me share this recipe with you. This is me, sending my love to you and your families.
